Some files in the Document Downloads section have the extension ODT.
To be able to read them you will need to load the free OpenOffice program available at
http://www.openoffice.org/.
This will take about an hour to download and install the 150MB file using an ADSL2 internet connection.
Installation may include the updating of the Java program on your computer.

These files can not be opened for reading by Notepad, Wordpad, Word2007 or Acrobat9.

Can these be converted & uploaded as Microsoft Word documents as well?
I am sure we can get hold of a program (open source & free) to convert to PDF which is the most widely & acceptable form of transmitting documents over the internet. Anyone can obtain a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader (which is required to open these files) if it isn't already installed on their computer by visiting http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

I own AcrobatPro9 and Word2007 (part of Office 2007 SBE) and have no problems converting ODT files to PDF and DOC files. The catch is purchase of these programs new costs over $1000 !

Hello Quincy

If you have Acrobat Pro 9 then all documents can be converted to PDF.
There would then be no need for anyone to purchase any program as the Adobe Acrobat Reader is freely available from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html or the other link mentioned above.
The Adobe reader will open any PDF created with Acrobat Pro.

So do you want any or all the ODT 'Document Download' files repeated in PDF (or Word2007 DOC or DOCX) format ?
