Action on Military Superannuation Indexation

With the sad passing of our friend John Graham, it is up to the rest of us to ensure that his efforts are not wasted. As individuals we need to make a contribution to the military super debate. Without the numbers, we will see the status quo on super adjustments remain .
Who is leading the charge? Clearly the Defence Forces Welfare Association is doing more than anyone else to keep this matter alive. As a lifetime subscriber to the RSL, I have been disappointed to note that they are not doing more.
I wrote to my local federal member, whose response was luke warm. I then sent e-mails to the Shadow Ministers for Veterans Affairs and Defence, expressing my disappointment that they do not appear to be doing much at all (if anything), to foster our cause for fair indexation. I was contacted by Louise Markus (a pleasant lady), to discuss my request. I asked her why the Coalition has dropped the bundle on this matter. She denied this and advised that they are working on policy papers for the next election. I reminded her that the Clarke Review provided the conduit for this to happen, had they acted before the last election. She further advised me that there was not much the Coalition can do for military super recipients, unless they win Government at the next election. I responded that given the current state of the coalition, that prospect seems unlikely. She then informed me that she would pass on my correspondence to Bob Baldwin for a response. After two weeks I have not received any response, nor do I expect one.
The coalition members could take a leaf out of Labor Senator Kate Lundy's book. She has written (along with other Labor members) to the appropriate Minister expressing their disappointment over the decision on our super adjustment criteria. She has also started an open forum for anyone to put forward their views. The input does not appear to be censored in any way.
